Altenburg Abbey

The gardens in and around Altenburg Abbey are laid out with loving care. Each garden has a different theological theme.

The Creation Garden was the first garden planted to depict a theological theme with the help of guided paths, plantings and design elements. Next came the Garden of the Religions. It is the largest of the gardens in Altenburg and consists of five sections in which the relationships between the five great world religions are represented. The Garden of Tranquility, the Cloister Garden and the Apothecary Garden can also be admired.
