Description

The salted meats have established themselves as hearty classics in the Lower Austrian tavern cuisine. At the Gasthaus Schönauer, this delicacy is prepared to perfection. In addition to the Waldviertler Sau and Wildmaisen, the family-run business in Nussendorf has other assets to offer: It is the specialty weeks around steak, game and dumplings that spoil the palate of guests in the southern Waldviertel. The red-white-red tavern kitchen of Johann Schönauer and his team has a lot of substance and meets the highest demands. Committed to tradition, this is where the daily work is carried out with passion. The philosophy of the house is: only the very best quality is good enough - and at a reasonable price.

Tavern tradition for 200 years
The Gasthaus Schönauer has existed in its basic features for about 200 years. The ambience speaks a clear language: feel good and enjoy - whether in the rustic tavern, in the banquet hall or in the bar area. Guests should definitely try the brandies, the must and the homemade pastries, which are often worth a sweet sin. Many of these products can be purchased from the farm, and the wine and beer range is also very diverse and shows a clear tendency towards the Waldviertel. To conclude the tavern visit properly, it is worth a visit of the most popular destinations in the area. These include the nearby castle Artstetten or the Benedictine monastery Melk as well as the agricultural museum Europaschloss Leiben.
