Geras Nature Park
The 132 hectare nature park lies amidst forest, ponds and fields in the idyllic countryside surrounding Geras Monastery.
Take a walk and see fallow, sikka and red deer in their natural habitat. Highlights include a children's zoo, a unique pond landscape, a bat trail, a humming stone and a wooden zylophone. The hunters' path takes you to the wild pig enclosure, and a bird observation post on the “Lange Teich” invites the visitor to rest and watch the wildlife.
Numerous species of waterfowl nest on the largest of the carp ponds that belong to Geras Monastery, and egrets, grey herons and storks come here to feed. Aurochs graze on the banks of the ponds and frogs hold noisy concerts in the evenings.
